warren says that when becoming a worship leader, there are some things you can't teach... like being sensitive. :P

The only people who say that there are things you can't teach...aren't good teachers. Haha...just kidding. But I do think you can always help guide people to be more sensitive. For instance, you can show them cues to look for from the congregation and how they are worshiping. You can help them understand how to be more attentive to how the Lord is leading during worship.

But then again, what do I know.

I think those things you pointed out are exactly the things you can't teach... that's why I said it!

I've seen some people who looked entirely uninterested that said they were actually very moved... hahahaha... What do you do with that?

Well, if there are some things you just cannot do, such as figuring out how people are responding to worship, then it is only natural to say that you cannot teach those things.

I guess it's the same thing as saying that you can't teach a man to fly. It's not possible for a man to fly, so there's no way you can teach it.

However, it is possible for somebody to be sensitive, so you can teach it. Your intuition might not always be correct, though.

Music stuff. Talking stuff. Not spiritual stuff.

I will disagree with the statement... I believe you can teach spiritual things. We're just thinking that this spiritual education is taught lecture style, but the education comes from practice and cultivation. We can always talk about this further if you all want.

Serge wins... thanks for clarifying a bit more on the definition of "teaching."

In fact, if anything, I think it is God that teaches us how to be sensitive to Him as we live towards a life of worship...

I kind of meant it in the way that you can't teach someone how to overcome sin or how to love deeply or things like that, where words really don't mean much unless they are tied together with "practice and cultivation"...
